Hyuganatsu sometimes called the new summer orange or Hyuganatsu orange is a type of citrus fruit primarily found grown out of the Miyagi Prefecture in Japan. Greenhouse Hyuganatsu are planted during the winter months between December and March, whereas Hyuganatsu planted outdoors such as organic Hyuganatsu Oranges are said to be grown between the months of February and May. Despite being called an orange it has a distinguishable lemon-like yellow skin color making it Due to the fact that it has a hard outer skin it is often found peeled using a knife such as in the way an apple is peeled by knife. It is said to have a good balance of sweetness and sourness making it an excellent complement to any gelatin snack or ingredient in marmalade.
