Hiyayakko (chilled tofu) is a tofu dish generally made by topping silken tofu (not firm tofu) with katsuobushi (skipjack tuna flakes), ginger, onions, and soy sauce. Like other traditional Japanese side dishes including kinpira gobo and inari sushi (inarizushi), it makes an excellent complement to rice and miso soup. The fact that it is low calorie (more than twice the amount of calories found in ankake tofu) and contains a good balance of protein and fat makes it a popular meal choice for when you are on a diet.
