Keep your mind open and your thoughts on the road. Let yourself enjoy every moment of your travel and be sure that you'll create everlasting memories.
1. Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia
If you have never been to this place, most probably you couldn't imagine how many waterfalls can fit into a relatively small place. In the same time you couldn't even imagine how turquoise water can be. All this make this national park become one of the places to visit before you die.
Depending on your level of fitness and the amount of time you have at your disposal, there are several routes to choose. You could spend a couple of hours at the park or an entire day, hiking. In case you're planning on having a trip here during the summer, you should prepare to find the park packed with tourists from all over the world.
2. Zhangye Danxia landform in Gansu, China
Did you ever think you could see the rainbow on the ground? It is possible in China. This region is one of the places to go before you die because of the mineral and red sandstone deposits that were formed over 24 million years ago.
One wouldn't believe all the colors that nature can create and the best thing about the place is that you can spend the entire day marveling at the wonders of nature. Although you could forget about everything when being there, you should make sure you head it back to your hotel in time, before it gets dark.
3. The Great Wall of China
For sure you have heard about this one of the places to travel before you die. As interesting as skyscrapers may seem to be people, these walls are a lot more fascinating. They are over 12.425 miles long and they have historic, strategic and architectural importance.
Although some might think that it is only a wall and there is nothing special about it, you should know that it is made up by several barricades and they all have their own story to tell. You just have to take the time to listen to them. If you don't care about such stories, there is no point in travelling all the way to China.
4. Machu Picchu
Machu Picchu is a citadel of the Inca civilization that has been forgotten for hundreds of years, until Hiram Bingham rediscovered it. This is one of the most interesting cities to visit before you die. Although it has been abandoned and forgotten for a long time, in our days it is one of the busiest sites of them all, having over 2,500 visitors in only one day.
In case you take the time you hike up to the ruins, the sight you'll see will be breathtaking: there will be emerald green grass and patches of surreal fog. The site is just perfect for the castle of a king so it is no wonder that the citadel was built in this spot.
5. Pyramids of Giza
In case you like historic sites, you will be simply thrilled about the pyramids. This is certainly a place to visit before you die. The majority of people imagine the pyramids being in the desert, in the middle of nowhere. However, once you get there, the site's proximity to modern-day Cairo will shock you.
Naturally, it's not only the pyramids you'll find here; there is also the Sphinx that is supposed to be over 4,500 years old. If you're into time travel, you can be sure that it doesn't get any better than this. Since the pyramids are so close to Cairo, you could also grab the opportunity to visit some of the capital city's numerous museums of history and not only.
6. Great Barrier Reef
If it's not only history that interests you, but nature as well, you should really think about this one of the place to go before you die. Corals are wonderful creatures, creating the largest living structure of the planet. Interestingly, this is the only living structure that can be seen from space.
The reef is made of about 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands. These are home to 1,500 fish species, 6 species of sea turtles, 30 whale and dolphin species, and over 215 bird species. In case you are looking for diversity, it doesn't get any better than this; you could think about this place as the Tokyo or New York of the animal world.
7. The Eiffel Tower
When looking for the best places to travel before you die, you shouldn't forget about the most romantic city of the world, Paris. Naturally, Paris isn't only about the Eiffel Tower and Champs Elysees. Regardless of what you're looking for, culture, arts, fine cuisine, fashion, or sports, you can be sure to find it here.
You could attend a fashion show, eat at a traditional restaurant, go to one of the art museums or galleries or just walk around the city. Of course, you shouldn't forget about the Louvre either, to take a look at Mona Lisa, among many other famous pieces of art. Since the city has so much to offer, you should make sure it is on your travel list.
8. Tianzi Mountains, China
If you are someone not afraid of heights, this place is like something straight out of Avatar the movie. These mountains, or rather pillars, jet straight up hundreds of meters into the sky like oversized skyscrapers covered with trees and brush. It truly makes a magnificent scene and only someone truly courageous would be able to enjoy a view from the top of these things. For real daredevil action, try rock climbing. There would be no amount of medical insurance that would be able to cover you for that expedition. This place is crazy bonkers.
9. Santorini Island, Greece
The colorful and artfully-crafted village of houses among this island is truly a sight to behold and is one of the places you must see before you die. Just seeing how it's like a place straight out of a watercolor painting will make you want to stay here after visiting. I wonder why more places can't be this colorful, as it sure lifts up your mood after being here let alone seeing it.
10. Yosemite Valley
This is one of the trademark American parks that is becoming a rare sight in modern times. So much green and natural scenery in this place its almost too much to take in at once. If you are visiting Yosemite, it's best to stretch your trip out to at least a couple of days just so you can appreciate what this park has to offer. Natural geysers ready to erupt at any moment make it quite exciting. And the scenery changes depending on what type of day and what season it is. I recommend Spring or Autumn for the best weather and experience for experiencing this magical place. Yosemite is a crucial places see before you die.
11. Kyoto bamboo forest
Step into an abyss with nothing but bright green filling your senses. It will put you in a euphoric mood you cannot describe. Don't worry about getting lost in this forest, as it's a widely famous tourist destination in Japan with a two-way road paved out for your enjoyment. There is no real way to describe it other than comparing it to a green-looking Moses ‘parting the waves' kind of scene where you get to immerse yourself in a natural place of beauty. The green from the bamboo and the trees are said to bring you vitality and good luck in your future endeavors. Best not to miss this opportunity to visit if you have the chance. Visit Japan and other places before you die.
12. Vatnajokull glacier cave, Iceland
If you've ever watched the Mighty Ducks movie, don't believe their lies. It's not true that Iceland is green, and this glacier cave is proof that this country lives up to its name. A cascade of ocean-blue glaciers will calm your soul and put you in a state of awe. There is nothing quite like it, the closest thing you will probably get to experience in your life is a trip to the aquarium. Which is really no comparison. Pictures don't do this place justice. It's something you have to see to believe. Those memories will last you a lifetime. This is definitely a place to see before you die.
Make your own list you have to see
The truth is nobody would be able to tell you one place you have to see. What is important is to cherish every opportunity you have for travel, praise and enjoy the beauty of this Earth. The best thing you could do is to make a list for yourself and check out several countries to visit before you die. This way you can be sure you won't miss out on anything.
